Perhaps the following are a few questions that may be going through your mind as your prepare to worship with us for the first time:
What is a Nazarene?
Scripture tells us that Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, grew up in Nazareth and is many referred to as “the Nazarene” in scripture. Nazareth was a small town and honestly didn’t have a whole lot of significance. It represented the fact that Jesus came for all – no matter the background or how insignificant we may feel – Jesus came for us. Check out our “what we believe page” to find out more about the Church of the Nazarene.
What should I wear?
Here at Camden Nazarene there isn’t a certain “dress code.” The pastor will be wearing anything from a suit and tie to business casual, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that is the “standard dress.” Dress comfortably and come as you are.
How should I enter the building?
We have two entrances that are used regularly. The front entrance (facing US 1) is the main entrance which puts you right into the main foyer and easy access to the sanctuary. The single glass door entrance (facing the parking lot) enters into our Christian Education wing, but still gives you access to the Sanctuary. There will be a greeter near by at either entrance.
Join us for coffee…
If you enter the building from the North (parking lot side) you’ll come into The Passage which is an excellent place for coffee and conversation. Coffee is offered beginning at 9:00am.
What is the worship atmosphere like?
Camden Nazarene is truly an intergenerational place of worship. You find people from all ages and all walks of life at our church. For this reason, the worship style can best be described as “blended.” It won’t be uncommon to sing the newest modern worship song and a great hymn of the church during the worship service. You will find the sermon to be based from the scriptures and presented in way that is practical and applicable to situations that we face in life everyday.
What time should I arrive?
Sunday Worship Gathering begins at 9:30am. Most people will begin to fill the sanctuary around 9:15am as we prepare for worship to begin.
After worship we offering Sunday School for all ages. Sunday School is essentially a small group of people who meet and are broken up into different age groups. We have a class for everyone. Children’s classes usually include a bible lesson and then a hands on activity to reinforce what they have just learned. There are groups for youth and adults too. Click here to find out more information about Sunday School.
We have small children, is there a nursery?
Yes, our nursery is staffed during Sunday School and the Worship Gathering, and we are equipped to care for any child 0 months – 3 years old. If you would like to make us aware of needs your child may have feel free to use our Sunday Guest Experience to communicate that to us.
My children are over 3 years old, is there a children’s church during the Worship Gathering?
Yes, mid-way through the worship gathering you will see a video announcement go up dismissing all children 3 – 6th grade to children’s church. Our children’s church is broken up into two age groups; 3-5 and 6-12 (6th grade).
